Fibertec mineral wool fibers are inorganic synthetic fibers that have been specifically milled and processed to controlled lengths and with predictable diameters and aspect ratios. These mineral fibers are generated from complex mineral silicates having as primary components silicates of calcium, magnesium and aluminum. Fibertec mineral fibers can be surface treated to enhance performance in selected resin systems. urther, because these fibers are additionally characterized by very low loose and tapped bulk densities, they are desirable for low-density reinforced thermoset and thermoplastic systems.

MICROWOOL

Our glass fiber reinforcements are 10 or 16 microns in diameter and milled to lengths ranging from 120 to 470 microns. They are used in composites to increase mechanical properties such as tensile, flexural and impact strength. They are also used to increase dimensional stability and minimize distortion at elevated temperatures. Milled glass fibers are compatible with all thermoset and thermoplastics resins. Surface treatments are available that may enhance performance. Microglass milled fibers are E-glass filaments hammer milled to various bulk densities. Microglass is used as a filler/reinforcement in composites to increase mechanical properties (tensile, flexural and impact), improve dimensional stability and minimize distortion at elevated temperatures.

MICROGLASS

Fibertec's wollastonite products come in powder and fibrous grades. Powder grades tend to be used as fillers in coatings, adhesives, sealants and paints. It is an inert material with an alkaline pH that improves toughness, weather resistance and moisture absorption. Powders, while having some aspect ratio, all tend to be -325 mesh. Fiber grades have a diameter ranging from 5 to 15 microns and aspect ratios from 15 to 20. They are most commonly used as a lower cost, lower performance replacement for milled fibers in composites. They are compatible with all
resins and may be surface treated. Fibertec wollastonites are acicular (needle-like) mineral products milled to various morphologies and bulk densities. These products can be
surface treated to enhance performance in thermoset and thermoplastic resins. Fibertec wollastonite is used as functional fillers and reinforcements in composites (thermosets) and compounds (thermoplastics) to increase mechanical properties (tensile, flexural, impact), minimize distortion at elevated temperatures, improve dimensional stability, and provide low moisture absorption.

Wollastonite

Fibertec micas are platy minerals. Mica is generically a complex group of aluminosilicates occurring naturally as plates or sheet-like forms. Fibertec micas can be surface treated to enhance performance in various resin systems. Fibertec mica is used as functional fillers providing reinforcement in thermoplastic and thermoset resins to improve flexural modulus, tensile strength, impact strength while minimizing shrinking and warping at elevated temperatures.

Microglass milled fibers are E-glass filaments. Microglass is used as reinforcement in composites to increase mechanical properties (impact, tensile, compressive and flexural), improve dimensional stability and minimize distortion at elevated temperatures.
