BIOTREND® BIT20-D is a 20% aqueous dispersion of benzisothiazolin (BIT), utilized to inhibit the growth of bacteria and fungi, including yeasts and molds. It serves as a highly effective biocide across various applications, such as preservation of latex paints, aqueous industrial preservation, polymer lattices, adhesives, joint compounds, and dispersed pigments like clays, titanium dioxide, and calcium carbonate. BIOTREND® GA50 is Zero VOC, devoid of formaldehyde, and does not generate MIT.

  • BIOTREND BIT20-D penetrates the cells of microorganisms, reacts with vital parts of the cells and inactivates important substrates and enzymes necessary to normal cell function.
  • These relatively unspecific reactions exhibit a bactericidal effect and minimise adaptation or the development of microbial resistance.
  • BIOTREND BIT20-S prevents microbial deterioration of products and resulting consequences such as:
    • Phase separation
    • Odor build-up
    • Gas build-up
    • Changes in viscosity
    • Build-up of health threatening toxins

  • BIOTREND BIT20-D is highly suitable for the preservation of a wide variety of aqueous based products due to its broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity and good thermal and chemical stability.
  • It shows highest efficacy in a wide pH range of pH 4 – 10 and is chemically stable from pH 2 – 12 and also light stable. Experience shows that compatibility with most products and raw materials is excellent, although compatibility testing is recommended for special formulations.
  • Under normal use patterns concentrations of 0.05 – 0.3% are sufficient in most applications. Please refer to the BIOTREND BIT20-D Directions For Use label for specific concentrations allowed.

Storage Condition

Store in the original, tightly-closed containers, in well-ventilated, dry, dark and cool areas. Carefully reseal and keep containers upright. Protect from freezing. If frozen, allow to thaw and stir well before use.

Handling Precautions

When handling BIOTREND BIT20-D, avoid contact with the skin, eyes, and clothing. Wear goggles or a face shield, protective clothing, and waterproof gloves, as specified on the EPA product labels, when handling these products.
