"At the beginning of 2014 , father and son Wille started building their own filament extruder. They decided to do this because of the growing interest in 3D printing technology, the knowledge of plastic within the company and the company network. 3D4Makers is the result from a company that primarily dealt with selling plastic raw materials. Now the 3D4Makers team consists of five members, each with their own specialties. 

While building the filament extruder and testing it we found out that moisture in the filament can cause problems while printing. Moisture in the filament could also lower the quality of the printing product. 3D4Makers took this problem into account while building the filament extruder. 

Normally a filament extruder uses a several meters long waterbed to cool the filament. During this process the filament absorbs water. 3D4Makers chose not to use this cooling technique which means that the filament does not come into contact with water during the production process. On top of that the filament is directly packaged in a vacuum packaging after the production process. 

This production process makes the 3D4Makers filament particularly suitable for FDM and FFF 3D printers. The material has an excellent adhesion between the layers. This results in great improvement of the impact resistance, strength, durability, the printing process and “warping”.

Acrylonitrile-Styrene-Acrylate (ASA) polymers are amorphous and have mechanical properties similar to those of ABS plastics. However, the ASA properties are far less affected by outdoor weathering. The outstanding weather resistance abilities of ASA is due to the acrylic ester elastomer. ASA parts have good chemical and heat resistance, and high impact strength, even at low temperatures. Typical ASA applications are buiding/construction, automotive and recreation parts.

Polyether Ether Ketone (PEEK) PEEK is a semicrystalline thermoplastic with excellent mechanical and chemical resistance properties that are retained to high temperatures. PEEK is regarded as one of the highest performing engineering thermoplastics in the world. PEEK is used to fabricate items used in demanding applications in aerospace, automotive, oil and gas and medical industries.

Luvocom® 3F PEEK 9581 Filament

ABS ESD Filament has been designed for protection of electronic devices which are sensitive to electrostatic discharges. The material prevents the risk of damage to vulnerable electronic components due to its dissipative properties. Its surface resistivity ranging from 10^7 to 10^9 Ohm. The filament is ideal for industrial applications like housings / casings for connectors, sensors and measuring devices. Available in black and its natural color.

PETG Filament (Polyethylene Terepthalate Glycol-modified) is the common thermoplastics of the polyester family and is used in fibers for clothing, bottles for liquids and foods. PETG is a modified PET, PETG is a clear amorphous thermoplastics with a lower melting point than PET.

Elogio AM PLA Filament (Polylactic Acid) is a biodegradable plastic coming from renewable organic resources (corn starch or sugarcane). PLA Filament is recyclable but can also be biological decomposed in composting plants.PLA is a polyester that is built from several lactic acid units. It is colorless and transparent. PLA has a density of about 1.25 kg/cm3. Polymers made of lactic acid are flammable.

Facilan™ Ortho is based on compostable raw material according to EN 13432.

Elogio AM ABS Filament is a thermoplastic and a copolymer that is used for rigid objects. It consists of 5-30% Butadiene, around 50% Styrene and the rest is Acrylonitrile. ABS is a strong material with high toughness and impact resistance. The maximum operating temperature is between 85 °C and 100 °C, depending on the modifications. The minimum operating temperature is -35 °C. ABS is a flammable polymer to which flame retardant can be added. It is also subject to aging by being exposed to the weather conditions (UV light, oxygen, moisture, heat) because Polybutadiene stimulates the oxidation of Polystyrene. This causes discolouration and the plastic loses its mechanical strength. In order to improve this UV stabilizers can be added.

This unique modified neat PEKK provides dimensional stability and is printable in non-heated chambers, delivering semi-crystalline parts with no warp.

Polyphenylsulfone (PPSU) is an amorphous high performance thermoplastic offering better impact resistance and chemical resistance than PEI. PPSU can operate in temperatures up to 180Cᵒ. PPSU has superior hydrolysis resistance when compared to other amorphous thermoplastics as measured by steam autoclaving cycles, it has virtually unlimited steam sterilizability. It also resists common acids and bases over a broad temperature range. Applications are; Aerospace, Aircraft, Automotive, Dental, Medical, Surgical instruments. The PPSU filament is based on the technology of Solvay.
