Aqueous hydrofluoric acid (HF), one of the strongest inorganic acids, is commonly used in the manufacture of organic and inorganic fluoride compounds.
It is widely used in the pickling of stainless steel, in the semiconductor industry as an etchant and cleaning agent, in the manufacture of ceramics, in the purification of graphite, ferrosilicon and quartz, in the electropolishing and pickling of metals (surface treatments), in the etching and frosting of glass, in the chemical industries, and in cleaning chemical solutions.
