Applications & Uses

Application area and materials

For ABS, PVC thin edges and plastic sheeting on wooden materials, and applying ornamental strips and second layers on painted or coated parts. With crosslinking agent very good adhesion on all paints (water-based, DD, PUR, SH, UV), coated materials and various synthetics. Good moisture resistance. For specifications of crosslinking agent see data sheet Collano Hardener HR 910. Preliminary trial attempts are strongly recommended due to the large variety of edges, sheeting and lacquer paints.

Application data

The curing behavior of PVAc dispersions depends on the absorbency and strength of the adherends, as well as the ambient temperature and press temperature. The specified figures are guideline values and are based on results of tests on precision bonds made under standard climatic conditions (20 °C and 65% relative humidity). Deviations are possible depending on the type of use.

Application

It is essential that the surfaces are clean and grease-free in order to provide the best adhesion and quality of join. Roughen and clean painted or coated surfaces where possible. Apply adhesive to one side and press the parts together. The press time depends on temperature and absorbency of the materials, and on the material tensioning. One of the two adherends must be absorbent so that the adhesive can cure. For furniture body joints the join (e.g. dowel, Lamello, tongue and groove, etc.) must be made in combination with joint or construction adhesive.

Minimum press time

  • 20 °C: > 30 minutes
  • 50 °C: > 5 minutes

Additional details

Not tested for gluing of thick edges. Not suitable for constructions and joints that are subjected to high loads or continuous loads. Water-resistance of the seal is increased by adding 5% (by weight) of Collano Hardener HR 910. Mix well with hardener. Mixture can be processed for 12 hours.

Clean-up

With water before adhesive has dried.
