Cumene itself is obtained through the catalytic alkylation of benzene with propylene, utilizing a solid bed catalyst. The main application of phenol lies in the production of bisphenol A (BPA), which serves as an intermediate in the manufacturing of polycarbonate and epoxy resins. Phenol also plays a role in producing caprolactam in the Nylon 6 route and is utilized in various applications, including the construction industry for insulation, laminates, and coatings, as well as in disinfectants, medicinal products, food additives, and more.
