Urease inhibitor – inhibits hydrolytic action on urea by urease enzymes, temporarily preventing volatilization. 
Nitrification Inhibitor – Compounds added to nitrogen (N) fertilizers to reduce the rate at which ammonium is converted to nitrate. Under appropriate conditions, this can help reduce N
losses.

NITREA NU contains NBPT, N-(nbutyl) thiophosporic triamide, which stabilizes surface applied nitrogen by inhibiting the activity of the urease enzyme, slowing hydrolysis thus minimizing ammonia volatilization loss. NITREA NU also contains cyanoguanidine (DCD) which slows the conversion of ammonium to nitrate by temporarily disrupting the activity of the bacteria Nitrosomonas thus minimizing leaching below ground.
