Activated carbon products are the very backbone of Calgon Carbon and FILTRASORB granular activated carbon (GAC) represents our signature product line in this category. Made from select grades of bituminous coal, it is capable of withstanding the abrasion associated with repeated backwashing, hydraulic transport and reactivation.

FILTRASORB® 200 AWD LF is an acid washed granular activated carbon with a low acid soluble iron content that is designed for the purification of low pH solution or water applications. It can be used efficiently in fixed or moving beds. The particle size of 12x40 mesh has been selected to give a high rate of adsorption and low resistance to flow.

CENTAUR® 12x40 is a liquid phase virgin activated carbon produced from bituminous coal using a patented process. Although it is not impregnated with metals or alkali, it displays the catalytic functionality of these materials.

FILTRASORB® 816M is a granular activated carbon (GAC) developed by Calgon Carbon Corporation for the removal of contaminants from municipal drinking water. These contaminants include taste and odor compounds such as MIB and Geosmin, organic compounds known to be precursors to disinfection byproduct (DBP) formation, DBP compounds such as haloacetic acids and trihalomethanes, contaminants of emerging concern (CECs), such as endocrine disrupting compounds (EDCs) and pharmaceutical and personal care products (PPCPs), and other targeted organic contaminants.
