- How does Pro-Enteric Triplex® act?
Enterococcus faecium is a Probiotic which promotes the competitive exclusion mechanism, fighting the overgrowth of pathogenic microorganisms which causes diarrhea in companion animals. Competitive exclusion prevents pathogenic microorganisms from remaining in the intestine and obtaining nutrients, thus allowing the normal intestinal flora to recover.
The Prebiotic is the specific substrate for beneficial bacteria such as Enterococcus faecium. By administering the bacteria together with its specific substrate, the beneficial effect of the Probiotic is strengthened, by increasing the probiotic’s viability. The combination of Probiotic and Prebiotic is known as Symbiotic.
Kaolin has the ability to retain bacteria and toxins, preventing them from acting on the intestinal mucous. The stools become more solid, as Kaolin also retains water. Pectin thickens the liquid feces, due to its capacity to retain water and normalize intestinal peristalsis.
- Recommended Use
In companion animals presenting diarrhea, which may be caused by:
- A wide range of oral antibiotic treatments.
- Alterations or changes in diet.
- Food allergies or intolerances.
- Intestinal infections (parasites, viruses, bacteria).
- Pancreatic problems, Malabsorption Syndrome.
- Chronic liver diseases.
- Stress or exhausting situations.
These causes may affect the intestinal flora balance, which is the principal defensive barrier in the intestine. Diarrhea is the main symptom of intestinal illnesses, as a result of the microflora imbalance. The processes of diarrhea can lead quickly to states of dehydration, particularly in low-weight animals.
- Instructions for Use
Administer the following quantities orally 2 times per day:
ANIMAL WEIGHT QUANTITY Puppies, Kittens and Rabbits 1 ml Adult cats 2 ml Adult Dogs < 10 kg 2 ml Adult Dogs 10-30 kg 4 ml Adult Dogs > 30 kg 5 ml The minimum recommended administration period is 3 days, as they are usually acute diarrhea, but the dose period may vary in each individual case according to the veterinarian’s instructions.
For comprehensive diarrhea management, appropriate diet management may also be necessary. The animal may also need to be rehyrated to compensate for fluid loss.
