- Freshly lactating cows generally suffer from a lack of energy at the beginning of lactation and have to mobilize body reserves. When fat is broken down, ketone bodies are formed, which then lead to acute or latent ketosis (acetonemia). Accompanying diseases of ketosis are very often retained placenta, lying down (partum paresis), displacement of the abomasum, fertility disorders, udder and hoof diseases as well as rumen acidosis.
- Pure glycerine (99.9% purity) effectively stimulates feed intake and, as an attractant, can help to optimize the milking frequency (attractive feed). At the same time, part of the high-quality glycerin serves as energy for the rumen flora.

- The Effect of Pure Glycerol on Milk Yield within the first 12 Weeks of lactation
Due to the enzymatically modified sugar contained in the isomaltulose molasses, the rumen bacteria are supplied with sugar that is available quickly and slowly. Sodium propionate as a natural precursor of glucose also supports the formation of new blood sugar very effectively. Propylene glycol is very quickly absorbed from the rumen and is then directly available to the intermediate metabolism as a blood sugar-forming substance.
KULMIN ® GlukoMix reduces the amount of ketone bodies, such as beta-hydroxybutyrate (BHB), the free fatty acids in the blood resulting from the breakdown of body fat and the content of triglycerides in the liver, especially in early lactation. KULMIN ® GlukoMix contributes significantly to compensating for the energy deficit of high-performance cows in early lactation and to reducing the stress on the metabolism and especially on the liver. This makes it easier for the cow's carbohydrate and fat metabolism to normalize. The cows give more milk with less stress on their metabolism.

- Feeding Notice
KULMIN ® GlukoMix consists of highly effective, tasty glucoplastic substances that promote liver metabolism (gluconeogenesis) and contribute to the nutritional support of the metabolic processes in subclinical and clinical ketosis. Due to the particularly tasty formulation, it can be successfully used as attractant in the milking robot.
To reduce the risk of ketosis:
- start feeding from 2 weeks before calving or
- feed 670 g per animal per day for a period of 3 to 6 weeks from calving onwards.
For metabolic support after acute ketosis:
- Feed 670 g per animal and day for approx. 4 weeks.
- Application Notes
KULMIN ® GlukoMix is a tasty energy mix for transponders and AMS feeding technology. Cows like to come to the liquid dispenser and to be milked. KULMIN ® GlukoMix can be fed in addition to the feed ration. Also ideal for dry cows. Can also be threshed if necessary.
