- EU Efficacy Claims
The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) publishes efficacy guidance which identifies the data requirements to substantiate product claims. Appendix 4 of the guidance document, provides a tabulated overview of the organisms, EN test methods, contact time, temperature, soiling condition and pass criteria for many uses with the disinfectant Product Types (PT1 − PT5).
The guidance is applicable for both full BPR Product Authorisation, and where Member States maintain National Schemes under the Transitional Arrangements (Article 89 of the BPR). The National Schemes remain in force while one or more Active Substance/Product Type combination relevant to the product, remain under evaluation as part of the BPR Active Substance Review Program.
