Preliminary Analysis
For surface sealing of cracks, observe any residual contamination such as efflorescence, prior sealants, mineral deposits, etc. For anchoring or other structural repairs, consult structural engineer for suitability and product approval. Consider thickness of cracks, joints, and areas to be treated as non-sag pastes are considerably thick and do not penetrate fine cracks.
Preparation of The Substrate
For surface applications, pressure wash or grind to smooth, clean, and uncontaminated surface. Product requires dry and clean surface to achieve best bond strength to concrete. In the event of leaking structures, leak must be remedied first. For anchoring, all dowels and holes must be clean and free of loose debris and/or contamination.
Preparation of The Product
Cartridges must be shaken prior to application. Bulk material may require conditioning if stored in cold conditions.
Preparation of The Equipment
Cartridges applied with 1:1, 10.6 fl oz x 10.6 fl oz (300ml x 300ml) dual component manual or pneumatic tool. Bulk product can be applied via mixing board, scrapers, and/or standard hand mixing equipment.
- Surface Preparation
- For surface sealing, apply generous amount of epoxy paste to the surface of the crack covering the crack and a minimum of ½” (13mm) on each side of the crack. The crack should not be visible after application.
- When setting surface ports, first apply a small amount of epoxy paste to the base of the ports being careful to not plug or fill the opening of the surface port. The epoxy resin to be injected through the port requires a passage to the crack. Place the ports approximately 6”-12” (15.24 – 30.48 cm) spacing along the crack depending on crack width (finer cracks = close spacing).
- Once the port is placed, apply epoxy paste around the base of the port fully covering the port so that no plastic can be seen through the surface seal paste.
- Feather edges with scraper or mixing tooling.
- For anchoring or doweling, fill hole completely with epoxy paste.
- Insert anchor or dowel (overfill will occur)
- Remove overfill as needed.
Required Tools
1:1 dual component hand tooling for cartridge systems, or 1:1 non-sag pumping equipment for bulk systems. Hand mixing and applications require mixing board and standard hand mixing tooling
Cleaning and Maintenance
Cartridges can be capped and saved for future use. Dispose of plastic static mixers. Hand tooling can be cleaned with solvents or thinners. Clean pumps per manufacturer recommendations
Estimating Quantities
One 20.5 oz. (600ml) cartridge yields approximately 40 cubic inches (0.66 dm3) of coverage. Two (2) gallon bulk kits cover 462 cubic inches (7.57 dm3).
