Afcona 5065

High-molecular weight unsaturated carboxylic acid, combined with a very compatible organically modified polysiloxane.

• 0.5 - 2.5% based on inorganic pigments or
• 0.1 - 1.0% based on total formulation, normally at 0.5% based on total formulation.

AFCONA-5065 should be added prior to the dispersion process. High shear force mixing is recommended when added after process.

AFCONA-5065 is a very effective dispersants. The performance is close to high molecular weight dispersant. However, this is not always close enough. It is recommended for medium to high polar system, such as PU, UPE, UV, NC, Baking Paints and Acid Curing. This product also widely is used in printing ink. Not recommended for air-drying alkyds, because incompatibility with these systems.

AFCONA – 5065 has below special properties and recommended in below systems::
1) AFCONA-5065 can act as additive for post addition to correct flooding and floating of coatings. It will re-flocculate those inorganic pigments to the same degree as the organic pigments in order they can move in the same speed. Using this method, to solve flooding and floating, sometime can affect gloss of the dry film, especially when the dosage is higher than 0.8% on total formulation.
2) AFCONA-5065 also widely used together with high molecular weight dispersants, such as AFCONA-4010, AFCONA-4050 or AFCONA-4046, as an effective co-grinding dispersant in a ratio of 1:1 to 3:1( High Mol Weight Dispersant : AFCONA-5065). However, for foam sensitive systems like coil coatings and floor coatings AFCONA – 5066 is a better recommendation.
3) AFCONA-5065 is not compatible with white spirit or paints which are diluted with white spirit.

AFCONA-5065 should be stored in a cool dry place. When kept in an original unopened container, it will keep up to 5 years from the date of manufacture. The expiry date is indicated on the container.
