Afcona 4050

Modified polyurethane polymer.

Calculation method for the required amount of AFCONA-4050 on pigment:

• TiO2 : 2 - 3%
• Other inorganic pigments : 2 - 4%
• Organic pigments : 20 - 40%
• Carbon blacks : 20 - 60%

AFCONA-4050 should be incorporated in the mill base before adding the pigments.

AFCONA-4050 is a very effective polymeric dispersant for stabilizing inorganic and organic pigments as well as carbon blacks. It has very good stability performance, through effective steric hindrance, on all type of pigments.
This results in:

• improved gloss and DOI
• reduced flooding problems
• higher color strength
• lower viscosity

AFCONA-4050 was developed for more cost saving purposes without losing too much in pigment stabilizing performance comparing to AFCONA – 4046. AFCONA – 4050 has below special properties and recommended in below systems:
1) AFCONA – 4050 is used in general industrial where quality requirements are not so high as in OEM and Coil Coating. Thus, it mainly is used in Polyurethane, Epoxy, NC, and general industrial baking paints.
2) Although we have mentioned that this product is for cost saving purposes, it performs quite close to the high quality dispersants, such as AFCONA – 4046 and AFCONA – 4047.
3) AFCONA – 4050 also can be used as dispersant in preparation of universal pigment concentrates. We recommend a combination with the universal resin, AFCONA – 1102.

Note: AFCONA – 4050 will become slightly hazy at temperature 5°C and below, but this will not influent the quality.

AFCONA-4050 should be stored in a cool dry place. When kept in an original unopened container, it will keep up to 5 years from the date of manufacture. The expiry date is indicated on the container.
