Organically modified polyalkyl polysiloxane.

0.05 – 0.50% on total formulation. In general under normal conditions, the dosage is 0.05 – 0.2% based on total formulation.

AFCONA-3236 can be added at any stage of production process. However, high shear force is needed if added in letdown stage due to the defoaming property. For easier incorporation, dilute to 10% in any solvent/s..

Most organically modified polysiloxanes will stabilized foam and this make them not suitable for foam sensitive systems like floor coatings and high build systems. AFCONA-3236 is an alkyl modified polysiloxane giving not only slip and leveling properties, but also acts as a good defoamer in most systems.

AFCONA-3236 mostly used in foam sensitive systems as listed below due to none foam stabilizing properties:
1) Solvent –less epoxies
2) High Solid or solvent-less Polyurethanes
3) Paints applied by Curtain coater
4) Paints applied by airless spray application
5) UV curing systems

AFCONA-3236 also acts as good defoamer and slip agent for baking paints, especially in coil coatings. It has high temperature resistance up to 280°C for 15 minutes. In wood coatings, AFCONA – 3236 also very often is used due to the good defoaming and slip performance. AFCONA – 3236 is not recommended in high gloss clear coats due to it can cause slight in-can haziness.

AFCONA-3236 should be stored in a cool dry place. When kept in an original unopened container, it will keep up to 5 years from the date of manufacture. The expiry date is indicated on the container.
