Silicone containing defoamer

AFCONA-2038 can be incorporated at any stage, during processing or after mix.

0.1- 1.0% on total formulation. In general under normal condition, the dosage is 0.30 – 0.50% based on total formulation.

AFCONA-2038 prevents the formation of foam and blisters during the manufacturing and application of solvent-based wood finishes.
AFCONA-2038 has very good compatibility properties which makes it extremely suitable for use in clear coatings and high gloss coating. It is also suitable where dry film transparency is very important when applying thick clear coatings by conventional spraying. AFCONA- 2038 is in the same category defoamer as AFCONA – 2018, both have good transparency but AFCONA – 2038 contain silicone and AFCONA 2018 does not contain silicone. In many resin systems, AFCONA – 2038 gives better transparency than AFCONA – 2018.

AFCONA-2038 has the highest in can and dry film transparency. AFCONA-2038 is recommended when AFCONA-2018 gives unacceptable transparency. Combination with AFCONA – 2722 or AFCONA – 2725 in solventless epoxy will give further improve the defoaming effect tremendously.

AFCONA-2038 is recommended for below system where in-can haziness is undesired and high transparency is needed.
1) Polyurethane coatings for wood, plastic and car refinish
2) Acid-curing coatings for wood, etching/wash primer
3) NC lacquers for wood, general industrial paint and car refinish
4) Other solvent based systems

AFCONA - 2038 should be stored in a cool dry place. When kept in an original unopened container, it will keep up to 5 years from the date of manufacture. The expiry date is indicated on the container.
