Color coding and identification of hot metals, including: Plates, Blooms, and Pipes.
- Surface Preparation
For best results, hot metal surfaces should be descaled prior to application of Metal Mark-4.
Mixing:
Mix paint thoroughly before pouring to marking system paint tank.
Application:- Prior to first time use of Metal Mark-4 in automatic marking equipment remove all old, caked-on deposits and sediment by thoroughly flushing out system with water.
- Apply Metal Mark-4 by spray, using automatic marking equipment. Apply paint to a dry film thickness of 1-1.5 mils (25-38 Microns).
- The Metal Mark-4 is formulated to apply at ambient temperature. Maximum surface temperature at point of application should not exceed 1000ºF (538ºC).
- Provide continuous recirculation of paint in storage tank to prevent pigment setting and clogging of filters. Provide a city water connection and flush equipment periodically to remove any residues and to prevent blockage of filters and spray heads. Maintain temperature of storage tank below 100ºF (38ºC) to prevent evaporation losses and build-up of dried paint residues on tank surface.
Thinning:
The Metal Mark-4 is ready to use as is. Water can be used as a thinning agent. Do not thin with solvents.
Dry Time:
The Metal Mark-4 will dry at ambient temperature. Dry time at ambient depends on environmental factors: air, temperature, humidity, etc. Allow between 5-15 minutes for cure time at ambient temperatures. Metal Mark-4 dries and cures instantly at a temperature of 350ºF (175ºC) or higher.
Clean Up:
Periodically clean spray equipment, piping, hoses, and storage tank with a citrus based cleaning solution, then flush with water.
