- Paint Industry: The paint industry, which uses dry ground calcite, uses a maximum of 5 microns of calcite. It is used in construction paints, inside and outside coating, in water-based paint system, in 25-35% calcite paint. It is estimated that a total of 80,000 tons/year of various sizes of calcite is used in the paint industry in our country. It is estimated that approximately 8 million tons of calcite is used in the paint industry in the world. Calcite, which is used as an extender in the world, provides surface coating and reduces the consumption of titanium dioxide.
- Food Industry: Micronized calcite biscuits, bread, chewing gum, etc. It is used as an additive in foodstuffs. It is used as an indirect source of calcium, reducing the cost due to its chemical purity and color.
- Polymer (Plastic & Rubber): Calcite plastic furniture, pipe, automotive etc. It is used in the production of many plastic products, both naturally ground and coated. Coating is mostly done with stearic acid and sometimes with calcium stearate. Polypropylene (PP), Polyamide (PA), Thermoplastic (TPES) and PVC resins are mainly plastics in which calcite is used as a filler. The use of similar fillers, especially calcite, in the plastics industry has increased every year. Calcite is used as a filling due to its color, chemical impurity, cheapness and many reasons. Calcite filling is used in the plastics industry of over 3 million tons in the USA and Europe.
