EPOXOL® EMS is a zero VOC functional modifier, reactive diluent, acid scavenger, chemical intermediate, and plasticizer. It exhibits high solvency strength, excellent viscosity reduction and plasticization properties. Epoxol® EMS is compatible with epoxies, polyurethanes, acrylics, alkyds, and a variety of other resins. It has epoxide functionality, very low color and odor, is non-yellowing, very hydrophobic, and does not contain halogens. Applications include Coatings, Sealants, Adhesives, Elastomers, Electronic Applications, Degreasers, PVC, Rubber and Lubricants. It is been used widely as plasticizer because of high numbers of epoxidized carbon-carbon double bonds. The epoxide group is more reactive due to double bonds, thus making it a good hydrochloric acid scavenger and plasticizer.
