Yogurt is a cultured dairy product, that converts milk sugar (lactose) into lactic acid. Traditionally it was made from milk that was fermented by the bacterium Lactobacillus bulgaricus. The consistency is a semi-solid, the flavor and aroma may vary from one region to another, but the basic ingredients and manufacturing are essentially consistent. It has astringent, cleansing, healing, moisturizing, nourishing and sunburn relief properties and is used in shampoos, conditoners and skin care products.
