Legendary Velvet Bentgrass is a new introduction in 2005 from Lebanon Turf, and will set the new standard for golf course greens. It is the first of an allnew generation of velvet bentgrasses that may change the way Golf Course Architects and Superintendents design and manage golf course greens in the future. Legendary features a vibrant medium-green color, dense growth habit, and a very smooth consistent putting surface. It also exhibits improved shade and drought tolerance and has a reduced requirement for water, fertilizer, and fungicide inputs as compared to traditional creeping bentgrass varieties. Velvet bentgrass is generally more dollar spot resistant than creeping bentgrass and more brown patch resistant that colonial bentgrass. Legendary was selected for improved resistance to dollar spot, copper spot and brown patch, as well as overall turf quality.
