Elekeiroz is a Brazilian company in the chemical industry that has been operating for over a century. It was founded in 1894 as Queiroz Moura & Cia., a laboratory for vegetal extract-based products. In 1909, it became a statutory partnership association and built the first Sulphuric Acid plant in Latin America. The company changed its name to Elekeiroz S.A. in 1912. In 1969, it opened its capital to public subscription, and in 1986, Itaúsa - Investimentos Itaú S.A. took over shareholder control. Elekeiroz has been a pioneer in manufacturing various chemicals, including Phthalic Anhydride, Carbon Disulphide, Trimethylol Propane, 2-Ethyl Hexanoic Acid, 2-Ethyl Hexyl Alcohol, and n-Butanol.
